SRON - Customer Case Study

The Netherlands Institute for Space Research (SRON) faced the computationally intensive challenge of converting detailed light measurements from its SPEXone instrument on NASA's PACE satellite into usable data on aerosol properties. To process this vast amount of information, they turned to SURF and its high-performance data processing platform, Spider.

SURF implemented its Spider platform to process and store the approximately 50 terabytes of data generated each year. This solution allows SRON researchers to run and optimize their complex algorithms, quickly creating a high-quality data product. By making this critical climate data available to the global scientific community, SURF is helping to provide key insights into the role of aerosols and clouds in global warming, enabling better predictions for the planet's future climate.
