A SURF Case Study
Erasmus University Rotterdam wanted to prevent falling victim to a cyberattack like the one experienced by another institution. However, establishing its own 24/7 Security Operations Centre (SOC) was deemed too costly and unfeasible. This was the primary challenge faced by their Chief Information Security Officer.
The solution was to join SURFsoc, a joint SOC service provided by SURF. This gave the university 24/7 protection and monitoring from SURF's supplier, Fox-IT. The results include a faster response to security incidents and the ability to handle threats before they escalate, which the CISO states allows him to "sleep a lot better." SURF's service now alerts the university's team to actionable events about once or twice a month.
