The customer, ODISSEI Secure Supercomputer (OSSC), required a secure, high-performance computing environment to enable social science researchers to analyze sensitive, large-scale population data from Statistics Netherlands without compromising privacy, as average computers were insufficient for such complex tasks. The vendor, SURF, collaborated with them to address this challenge.

SURF developed the ODISSEI Secure Supercomputer (OSSC), a shielded, privacy-proof environment that runs on the national supercomputer, preventing data leaks. This solution drastically reduced computation times for researchers; one project's analysis time dropped from over four months to less than a week. SURF provided the secure and powerful computing environment necessary for groundbreaking social science research.
