How do you look inside an aircraft engine

Dacolt, a company specializing in combustion analysis, needed immense computing power to run complex simulations that would provide manufacturers with a better understanding of engine combustion processes. The challenge was that these detailed turbulence models required a supercomputer, as their own resources would take prohibitively long to complete the calculations.

To solve this, Dacolt utilized the national supercomputer provided by SURF as part of the PRACE partnership. This solution dramatically accelerated their research; a simulation that previously took three months to run was completed in just a few days. This allowed Dacolt to conduct real research and ultimately help its clients develop cleaner and more efficient engines.
