A SURF Case Study
Saxion University of Applied Sciences was challenged by a disorganized "mishmash of shadow IT" used by its research groups to store and share data. This created difficulties in collaborating with external companies and managing research data securely. The university turned to SURF and its Research Drive service to implement a centralized and secure solution.
SURF provided its Research Drive platform, which Saxion branded as the "Saxion Research Cloud Drive" with its own look and feel for easy recognition. The solution enabled secure data storage and seamless collaboration with external partners, replacing insecure and inefficient methods like email and consumer cloud services. As a result, the service has been widely adopted, with roughly 100 research projects and nearly 300 researchers now using it, a number that grows daily.
