The Office for Students, the independent higher education regulator in England with around 450 staff, needed to mature its enterprise risk management after inheriting systems from its predecessor. Already a SureCloud client (having deployed SureCloud’s GDPR Data Privacy Management Suite and GRC solution since 2017), the organisation found that improved policies and processes were constrained by technology: risk tracking relied on disparate, error-prone spreadsheets and manual work, so Office for Students required a single, enterprise-wide risk platform.

SureCloud configured its Risk Management Application on the cloud-based SureCloud Platform to provide a centralised, drillable dashboard and repository for risks across divisions, functions and legal entities. The solution was rolled out ahead of schedule, replaced numerous spreadsheets with a single source of truth accessible to all staff, and delivered “substantial time and cost savings” by reducing manual data entry — enabling Office for Students to take a more agile, transparent and proactive approach to risk management.
