The customer, Esgyn, a provider of converged database solutions, faced the industry-wide challenge of deploying a big data platform capable of handling a full spectrum of workloads, from operational to analytical, without the typical complexity and high costs. To modernize data lakes and accelerate IoT analytics, they needed a pre-integrated, high-performance appliance that could run their EsgynDB Enterprise software efficiently.

Supermicro implemented a solution using their 2U 4-node TwinPro2 SuperServer platform as the foundation for a big data appliance. This solution came pre-installed, pre-configured, and pre-tuned with EsgynDB, delivering a converged platform that could handle OLTP, ODS, BI, and analytical workloads. The results included superior performance on standard benchmarks like TPC-DS, the ability to run all 99 TPC-DS queries out-of-the-box, and a significant reduction in deployment complexity and operational expenses for the customer.
