InMotion Hosting Delivers Hyperconverged Infrastructure for OpenStack On-Demand Private Clouds in Less Than an Hour

InMotion Hosting, a leading IaaS cloud computing service provider, faced challenges delivering a cost-efficient and secure private cloud. Their goals were to reduce the high barrier to entry for OpenStack adoption, minimize data center costs, and overcome the inefficiencies of traditional cloud deployments which wasted compute and storage resources. They partnered with vendor Supermicro to find a hardware solution.

Supermicro implemented its MicroBlade technology, a high-density server architecture, to create a hyper-converged solution for InMotion Hosting's Flex Metal Cloud IaaS. This solution consolidated an entire OpenStack and Ceph deployment onto just three server nodes, drastically reducing the physical footprint and power draw. The results provided a lower total cost of ownership, improved power efficiency, and enabled InMotion Hosting to offer fully-featured private clouds at an affordable price point, deployable in under an hour.
