Museum of the Future creates a 2,400-specimen Vault of Life with Superflux

The Museum of the Future, a pioneering institution in Dubai, commissioned the design studio Superflux to create an immersive exhibition that would inspire visitors to become active agents of ecological change. Their challenge was to envision a hopeful future and forge a deeper connection between humanity and nature.

Superflux conceived and produced "The Vault of Life," a vast genetic archive featuring 2,400 laser-etched specimen jars suspended in a 375sqm space. This interactive installation allowed visitors to use handheld scanners to learn about species and complete challenges to design new lifeforms for ecosystem repair. The result was a stunning centerpiece for the museum that successfully inspired optimism and a sense of personal responsibility for the planet's future.
