A Superdesk Case Study

Preview of the AAP Case Study

Gaining a competitive edge in the news business

AAP, Australia’s national news agency, needed to upgrade its outdated newsroom software and replace difficult-to-use production and editorial systems that were slowing journalists down and limiting growth. To meet rising demands for digital journalism, AAP looked for a scalable, cost-effective newsroom platform, and chose Superdesk as its digital newsroom software.

Superdesk, the open-source newsroom management system from Sourcefabric, was co-developed with AAP to consolidate legacy systems onto a single platform and improve workflows, search, and content visibility. The result was faster planning, production, and distribution of content, with AAP going into full production in October 2016 and handling more than 4,000 unique stories, 15,000 edited articles, 22,000 photographs, and over 11 million readers.
