Bree's Migration to Supabase from Fauna

Bree, a Canadian fintech startup helping people living paycheck-to-paycheck access better financial products, was running into scalability and developer productivity limits with Fauna, its original NoSQL database. Fauna’s proprietary query language slowed iteration, and the company also needed a new foundation after Fauna announced end of life.

Bree migrated to Supabase, using managed Postgres along with tools like Auth, Edge Functions, vectors, and MCP support for AI development. Supabase helped Bree achieve major gains in developer velocity and performance, including double-digit latency reductions and some functions running up to 10x faster, while also providing a stronger foundation for AI-first features and future scaling.
