The customer, Bannister Transport, faced the challenge of modernizing its refrigerated trailer fleet to meet rising demands for sustainable logistics and eliminate its reliance on diesel-powered refrigeration units. Seeking a solution with strong environmental credentials and operational benefits, the company partnered with vendor Sunswap to trial its Endurance electric refrigeration system.
Sunswap delivered a complete fleet transformation by replacing all diesel units with its electric system powered by battery and solar energy. The solution exceeded expectations, proving to be just as reliable as diesel with no performance compromises while allowing the fleet to run on 80-85% solar power. This switch will eliminate 1,760 tonnes of CO2 and 13,600 kg of NOx pollutants over the units' lifetime, making Bannister Transport the UK's first fully electric refrigerated fleet.
