A Sunrise Integration Case Study
Quay Australia, a popular eyewear brand, sought to launch a new prescription product line with a seamless omni-channel experience, including in-store retail kiosks. They faced the challenge of developing a sophisticated custom Shopify POS app that could integrate their supply chain, synchronize orders in real-time with a manufacturing facility in Asia, and connect to their NetSuite ERP. The COVID-19 pandemic forced the immediate closure of their mall locations, halting the rollout and requiring a rapid strategic shift. They approached Sunrise Integration to help overcome these technical and operational hurdles.
Sunrise Integration developed a custom Shopify POS app that was quickly adapted from in-store kiosks to enable virtual sales. This allowed Quay's sales reps to conduct transactions remotely via Zoom from an iPad, integrating features for pre-filled carts and prescription uploads. The vendor also architected a highly available, multi-region AWS infrastructure to handle over 10,000 API calls per second in preparation for a global launch. As a result, Quay successfully launched its new optical line during lockdowns, reopened three retail locations, and prepared for a direct-to-consumer expansion.
