Spearmint Energy deploys 150 MW/300 MWh battery storage with Sungrow

Spearmint Energy, a next-generation energy company aiming to drive the clean energy revolution, faced significant challenges including extreme heat, harsh weather, and safety concerns while developing a major battery storage project in West Texas. They partnered with Sungrow to deploy an innovative and cost-effective solution for this 150 MW/300 MWh battery energy storage system.

Sungrow implemented its solution using 134 units of PowerTitan 1.0 batteries and 45 SC4000UD-MV-US power conversion system units. This successful deployment cemented Spearmint Energy's position as a leader in the Texas storage market and soon attracted a $92 million tax equity investment, marking one of the first applications of the Investment Tax Credit for a standalone battery system. The project's performance led to a further agreement for Sungrow to supply over 1 GWh of its latest PowerTitan 2.0 technology for future Spearmint Energy projects.
