A Sungrow Case Study
Kahramaa, Qatar's national electricity and water utility, faced the challenge of building an 800 MWp solar plant in a harsh desert environment characterized by frequent sandstorms and temperatures exceeding 50°C. These conditions posed significant risks to construction and the stable, long-term operation of critical electrical equipment like inverters. Sungrow provided its SG250HX-20 inverters to meet this challenge.
Sungrow's solution utilized intelligent air-cooling technology to ensure reliable inverter operation in the extreme heat. The project also featured an online smart I-V curve diagnosis system to monitor the health of over 1.8 million modules in real-time, greatly improving maintenance efficiency. The resulting plant now generates 1.8 billion kWh of clean power annually, meeting 10% of Qatar's electricity demand and reducing carbon emissions by nearly one million tons per year, supporting the nation's sustainability goals.
