A Sungrow Case Study
The customer, Black & Veatch, a global leader in energy and infrastructure, faced the challenge of building the Philippines' first megawatt-scale floating solar power plant at the Malubog Reservoir, an area prone to strong winds and extreme weather. To meet the country's renewable energy goals, they partnered with vendor Sungrow, which supplied its floating solar system solutions.
Sungrow engineered a solution with a special anti-wind and wave design based on an ultimate wind speed of 75 m/s, enhancing impact resistance by 50%. The system passed fatigue tests of over one million cycles and used an elastic mooring system for long-term stability. The resulting 4.99 MW plant now supplies clean and stable power to a local mining site, contributing significantly to the Philippines' national target of achieving a 35% renewable energy share by 2030.
