Atlas Renewable Energy delivers 880 MWh standalone storage in Chile with Sungrow

Atlas Renewable Energy faced significant challenges in deploying its largest standalone energy storage plant, BESS del Desierto, in Chile's harsh Atacama Desert. The project required robust equipment to withstand sand, dust, and corrosion, needed to stabilize a complex and unstable electrical grid, and had to be deployed rapidly. To meet these challenges, Atlas partnered with Sungrow to utilize their PowerTitan energy storage system.

Sungrow implemented its pre-assembled PowerTitan ESS, which featured advanced environmental protection and an intelligent cooling system for the desert conditions. The solution also incorporated advanced grid support technology to manage grid volatility and ensure a stable power supply. As a result, the 880 MWh DC project will feed approximately 280 GWh of clean electricity into the grid annually and, under a 15-year PPA, will power over 2,500 electric buses, significantly advancing Chile's clean transportation goals.
