Case Study: Vodafone achieves greater data center sustainability and energy efficiency with Sunbird DCIM

A Sunbird DCIM Case Study

Preview of the Vodafone Case Study

Sunbird’s powerful DCIM software helps Vodafone drive sustainability in its global data centers

Vodafone, a global telecommunications provider serving hundreds of millions of customers, faced limited visibility across its sprawling data center estate and needed to meet sustainability goals by reducing energy use and maximizing existing capacity. To get accurate temperature, power, rack-space and asset data and intuitive BI dashboards, Vodafone selected Sunbird DCIM’s out-of-the-box DCIM software to provide visualization, environmental and power monitoring, asset and capacity management, and reporting.

Sunbird DCIM enabled Vodafone to scale sensor coverage (from 16 to 800 sensors in one location), measure real power usage rather than nameplate estimates, and spot overcooling so it could raise cold-aisle temperatures. The results include tighter capacity management, a 4:1 server consolidation in one room that saved 75% of power, faster deployments of rooms with 200–300 servers, and measurable energy-cost savings that advance Vodafone’s sustainability objectives.
