Choice Hotels International, Inc., a global franchisor with more than 6,300 hotels and a reservation system handling transactions for roughly 500,000 guest rooms, needed to move from an on‑site data center to a remote “lights‑out” colocation more than an hour from its IT team while maintaining three‑nines SLAs. To create a virtual presence and maintain operational support, Choice deployed Sunbird DCIM software alongside Raritan intelligent PDUs, temperature/humidity sensors, KVM switches and Raritan CommandCenter Secure Gateway.

Integrated with Raritan hardware, Sunbird DCIM (Power IQ) gives Choice outlet‑level power and energy monitoring, environmental sensing, single‑URL secure KVM access, remote power‑cycling and electronic asset identification. The combined solution increased uptime to meet/exceed SLAs, eliminated hour‑long trips to the colo (cutting operational costs), enabled accurate colo billing by tracking actual power usage, and provided real‑time asset and environmental visibility so the data center team can manage the lights‑out facility without being on site.
