USA Funds, a nonprofit dedicated to improving postsecondary access and success that has supported $247 billion in financial aid and served roughly 22.4 million people, faced scaling issues with its legacy LMS. The custom system couldn’t reliably handle high volumes of course completions and required significant staff effort to deploy enhancements, so the organization sought a flexible, cloud-based solution for its geographically dispersed users.

USA Funds implemented SumTotal Learn: Maestro and Extended Enterprise (cloud), creating three domains for internal users, financial aid staff (USA Funds University), and students (USA Funds Life Skills, 34 courses), and added 24/7 End-User Support. SumTotal’s managed enhancements and testing freed staff time and allowed feature flexibility, while learners completed more than 375,000 courses, 99% reported changing at least one financial or college-success behavior, and average learner scores and satisfaction remained strong (87%).
