Monitoring SumoLogic Usage for Faster Issue Resolution

LogicMonitor’s Technical Operations team needed a faster way to troubleshoot server performance issues when log content alone wasn’t enough to pinpoint the cause. They used Sumo Logic as a log analysis tool, alongside LogicMonitor, to monitor and alert on log activity across devices and quickly surface unusual behavior.

Sumo Logic’s API was used in a custom LogicMonitor LogicModule to track the rate of log messages per server and trend normal versus abnormal activity. This high-level monitoring helped the team spot a server generating 30x more logs than usual, which led them to the source of the issue—a mail loop with an auto-responder—and enabled a quick resolution.
