A Sumo Logic Case Study
Channel 4, a UK public-service broadcaster reaching millions of viewers across nearly two dozen apps and platforms (including All 4 on devices and consoles), was generating enormous, disparate machine-data volumes—tens of billions of API requests and petabytes of streamed content monthly. Logs were scattered across servers, making root-cause analysis slow and manual; prior attempts with an ELK stack proved unscalable, and Channel 4 needed a GDPR-compliant, cloud-ready way to centralize and analyze telemetry to protect the viewer experience.
Channel 4 adopted Sumo Logic’s cloud-native analytics to standardize and aggregate logs (moving to a single JSON format), build custom dashboards and queries, and instrument client applications and services. Even mid-rollout, the platform has cut mean time to identify and resolve playback and service issues, ensured consistent capture of key events (subscriptions, payments), and given engineers the visibility to improve the viewing experience while enabling broader rollout and future integrations.
