bitbank, a leading Japanese cryptocurrency exchange operating its systems on AWS, faced growing monitoring and security challenges. Their existing open-source search/analytics engine struggled with performance, security and detailed application error detection, making it difficult to meet IT control requirements for security and financial audits and causing rising AWS costs.

To address this, bitbank implemented Sumo Logic’s cloud-native, AWS-compatible SIEM after a one-month trial. Sumo Logic enabled high-speed searches, automatic structuring of unstructured logs and compliance-grade security (ISMS, SOC2, PCI DSS), allowing full log collection without application-side changes. The result was stronger security and audit readiness, faster and more accurate incident and error detection, reduced system complexity and costs, and expanded plans to let other teams use logs via fine-grained access controls.
