Bethesda brings Fallout 4: Anniversary Edition to Nintendo Switch 2 with Sumo Digital and 3 frame rate options

Sumo Digital was tasked by Bethesda to port the critically acclaimed Fallout 4: Anniversary Edition to the new Nintendo Switch 2 platform. The challenge was to bring the well-established IP to a new audience, taking full advantage of the system's portability while including all major expansions and a large amount of additional content, all while ensuring a high-quality experience that protected the legacy of Bethesda's IP.

The solution implemented by Sumo Digital involved adapting proprietary engine libraries, modernizing the graphics pipeline, and optimizing shaders for improved performance. They uniquely implemented DLSS support and developed player-facing controls to select between multiple framerate targets. As a result, Sumo Digital successfully delivered a high-quality port that Bethesda praised, demonstrating their ability to bring successful IP to new platforms and meet high standards.
