Hospice of Windsor and Essex County, serving people and caregivers since 1979, faced an urgent database challenge when their donor system (Sage FR100) became obsolete and replacement costs per user were unaffordable. The change streamlined operations, reduced paper use, simplified reporting to funders, and made it easier to gather statistics; the hospice has since moved its Wellness Program and clinical records into Sumac and is advising other hospices on similar consolidation.
