Case Study: NY Sun Works deepens STEM learning and community impact with Studio Usher’s curriculum and campaign strategy

A Studio Usher Case Study

NY Sun Works launches 100,000-lb veggie curriculum with Studio Usher

NY Sun Works, an NYC education nonprofit, faced a challenge of integrating its hydroponic greenhouse program's massive produce output into its curriculum and communicating its scale. With over 130 classrooms harvesting more than 100,000 pounds of veggies annually, they needed a solution to deepen student learning and strengthen their institutional positioning. They engaged Studio Usher for curriculum design and campaign strategy.

Studio Usher developed the "100,000 lbs of Veggies! Now What?" workbook, an action-driven curriculum that reframed the harvested produce as a catalyst for student leadership. The solution organized student activities into four pathways, including farm stands and produce donations. This not only deepened classroom impact but also significantly elevated NY Sun Works' visibility with administrators and funders, supporting the nonprofit's continued growth.
