A Studio Rainwater Case Study
Studio Rainwater collaborated with Project 258, a digital initiative at Brown University, to reimagine the publication of a 17th-century alchemical text. The challenge was to move beyond traditional print and create an innovative, interactive platform for scholarly engagement that would bring the historic book to life.
The solution designed by Studio Rainwater was a rich, interactive website featuring a custom visual identity and a user experience that allowed visitors to curate, save, and share their own collections of the book's emblems. The resulting open-source platform, published by a university press after peer review, achieved significant reach with 16,000 unique visitors in its first two months, vastly exceeding the typical print run of 500 copies for such a specialized work.
