Case Study: Leicester City Council creates a world-class Richard III visitor centre with Studio MB

A Studio MB Case Study

Leicester City Council opens King Richard III Visitor Centre in 2013 with Studio MB

The customer, Leicester City Council, faced the challenge of creating a world-class visitor centre to tell the complex story of King Richard III following the discovery of his remains. Their goal was to establish a cultural hub and learning resource that balanced numerous opposing historical opinions. They engaged the vendor, Studio MB, to design the centre and its narrative.

Studio MB successfully mapped the balanced narrative into the interior spaces. The ground floor explored Richard III's reign, while the second floor detailed the discovery of his remains and the scientific verification. The Mayor of Leicester stated that the result far exceeded hopes and expectations, calling Studio MB's work astonishingly imaginative and a faithful yet accessible treatment of history for a modern audience.
