Inselspital unveils 24-ring kinetic installation with Studio Banana

The Inselspital, a major university hospital in Switzerland, faced the challenge of enhancing the public lobby of its new Anna-Seiler-Haus building. They wanted a feature that would fascinate and benefit patients, visitors, and staff while respecting the serene hospital environment. To achieve this, Inselspital engaged Studio Banana to design an artistic-spatial installation through a co-design process.

Studio Banana created "Loops," a large-scale kinetic art installation featuring 24 illuminated aluminum rings moving in a perpetual, meditative choreography. Suspended in the atrium, the artwork provides a captivating and calming point of interest from multiple floors. The vendor's solution successfully delivered a unique, enchanting experience that distracts and inspires all users of the hospital, humanizing the clinical space through a harmonious blend of art and technology.
