University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay NHS Foundation Trust (UHMBT) is a multi-site NHS trust serving over 100,000 patients annually across five hospitals. When rolling out the Lorenzo electronic patient record and supporting hundreds of new users, the trust needed a faster, more reliable way for floor walkers, porters and clinical teams to report issues and coordinate support than traditional desk phones and radios allowed.

UHMBT deployed Vocera hands‑free communication badges so staff can contact individuals or broadcast to predefined groups instantly from anywhere. Today more than 560 users rely on the system to speed issue reporting and resolution, reduce interruptions, streamline workflows in portering and theatres, and improve staff satisfaction — with the trust now exploring wider roll‑out across departments.
