A Stryker Case Study
Hunt Regional Medical Center in Northeast Texas faced challenges with a paper-based nurse rounding process that made it difficult to capture patient feedback, track requests, identify trends, and maintain consistent post-discharge engagement—limiting satisfaction, care-plan compliance, and readmission prevention. Leadership sought a standardized, technology-enabled way to strengthen nurse–patient communication throughout the hospital stay and after discharge.
They implemented Vocera Rounds and Vocera Care Calls, equipping nurses with iPads to collect real-time feedback, track requests, lead huddles, and make guided follow-up calls. Over 18 months the program completed about 22,000 rounds and 13,000 post-discharge calls, engaged roughly 21,000 patients, produced 200,000 data points for improvement, expedited responses and service recovery, and helped drive a 13% increase in overall HCAHPS and an 8% increase in likelihood-to-recommend.
