A Stryker Case Study
Toronto East General Hospital (TEGH), a Toronto acute-care centre, sought to strengthen staff safety amid rising incidents of workplace violence and wanted to move from reactive to preventive security after reviewing response times. Hospital leadership adopted a zero‑tolerance stance and looked for a communication solution that would let security and clinical staff connect instantly anywhere in the building.
TEGH implemented the Vocera Communication System and wearable Badge, giving staff hands‑free voice access, a double‑tap silent alarm that lets security listen in and locate callers, and integration with TeleTracking. With roughly 80% staff adoption, the system cut security response times, eliminated bulky radios and overhead paging, boosted productivity, improved patient transfers and care, and made employees feel more secure.
