Stromasys increases efficiency for MediSolution using CHARON-AXP

MediSolution, a Montreal-based IT provider of ERP and blood-bank software used by more than 300 organizations, faced an aging AlphaServer 1200 with dwindling storage and escalating maintenance costs. Migrating applications or adding another Alpha server would have been costly, time-consuming, and would have doubled space, power use and maintenance — so they sought a low-risk alternative.

Working with Stromasys, MediSolution deployed CHARON-AXP virtualization on a new HP ProLiant DL380 G5, allowing the existing OS and applications to run unchanged; the after-hours installation was quick and required little effort. The result: significantly more storage and memory, lower maintenance and energy costs, reduced footprint and heat, and roughly double the performance.
