Raffles Medical expands its IT systems virtually thanks to Charon-AXP

Raffles Medical Group, a leading integrated private healthcare provider headquartered in Singapore, relied on an HP Alpha DS20 server to run critical patient, pharmacy and inventory systems. When HP discontinued the Alpha DS20, spare parts and expertise became scarce and storage limits threatened the Group’s expansion plans, so Raffles needed a seamless, reliable replacement that matched or improved the DS20’s stability with minimal downtime.

After a four-month evaluation and stress-testing period, Raffles chose Stromasys’s CHARON-AXP DS20 virtualization software and completed the live migration in seven hours with on-site Stromasys support. The move preserved the DS20 user interface and stability, required no adjustments from medical staff, and proved reliable; six months later Raffles added two CPUs and upgraded to CHARON-AXP ES40 to increase capacity and support future growth.
