A Stromasys Case Study
Fidelity National Financial, a major provider of technology and processing services to the mortgage, banking and title insurance industries, faced a serious infrastructure risk in 2004: about 60 production VAX systems (plus development machines) were aging after HP retired the platform, replacement parts were scarce, and migrating to Alpha would have required re-writing or recompiling roughly 7 million lines of legacy code—an expensive, risky and time-consuming option for business‑critical systems.
Fidelity adopted Stromasys CHARON‑VAX virtualization to run VAX applications unchanged on modern HP ProLiant servers. They migrated roughly 35 virtual VAX systems to CHARON products and smaller, more energy‑efficient servers, reducing rack space and power/cooling needs, increasing storage capacity, and improving performance—successfully eliminating hardware failure risk while preserving their legacy applications.
