Case Study: Turo reduces costs and boosts revenue with Stripe

A Stripe Case Study

Preview of the Turo Case Study

Turo reduces costs and boosts revenue by consolidating pay-ins and payouts on Stripe

Turo, the peer-to-peer car-sharing platform, needed to simplify a complex payments stack that had been split across multiple providers for guest payments, host payouts, insurance claims, compliance, and global expansion. As it scaled beyond the US, Turo turned to Stripe for a more unified payments infrastructure with built-in international coverage, KYC support, multiple payment methods, and stronger analytics.

Using Stripe Payments, Stripe Connect, Global Payouts, Radar for Fraud Teams, and Stripe Data Pipeline/Sigma, Turo consolidated pay-ins and payouts, improved fraud controls, and streamlined reporting. Stripe helped Turo launch new markets in 2–3 weeks instead of 3–4 months, raised payout success to 99.5% after a 75% drop in failed payouts, cut cross-border processing costs by 50–70 bps, and drove a 4.71% revenue uplift in 2023, or $114 million in recaptured revenue.
