The city of Ishikari provides a new on-demand public transportation service with Stripe

The City of Ishikari in Hokkaido needed a way to support its new on-demand public transportation service, Itsumo, as it tried to meet commuter demand and provide better mobility for residents without easy access to cars. To enable smartphone-based reservations and card payments for the pilot, the city turned to Stripe alongside the Moovit transit app.

Stripe provided the payment infrastructure for Itsumo, allowing credit card payments to be processed smoothly when rides were used. The solution helped Ishikari handle rising passenger demand and received very positive feedback from users and local companies, while also setting the city up to add future payment options such as subscriptions, discounts, and coupons.
