TF1 launches France’s first streaming platform, with a paid option using Stripe technology

TF1, France’s leading free TV broadcaster, wanted to launch TF1+, a new on-demand streaming platform with both free ad-supported viewing and paid, ad-free subscriptions. Because subscriptions and billing were new to the company, TF1 needed a fast, scalable, and secure payment system that could handle massive sign-up spikes and support future expansion.

TF1 implemented Stripe Billing and Stripe Payments, along with Stripe Radar, Link, Stripe Premium Support, and is rolling out Stripe Tax and Stripe Sigma. With Stripe, TF1 launched its initial solution in three months, supports about 30 million people, handled 3.5 million sign-ups in five minutes, and achieved 30% more viewers and 40% revenue growth in January 2024. Stripe also helped TF1 keep acceptance rates above 99.97%, fraud below 0.03%, and save more than nine months of development effort and costs.
