Case Study: River Island achieves 3% higher authorisation rates with Stripe

A Stripe Case Study

Preview of the River Island Case Study

River Island improves authorisation rates by 3% with Stripe’s unified commerce solutions and Cabiri

River Island, the high street fashion retailer founded in 1948, needed to modernize its fragmented legacy payments setup to keep pace with changing customer expectations, improve authorisation rates, and create a seamless shopping experience across online and in-store channels. The company wanted a unified checkout system that could reduce complexity, support new payment methods, and better connect its customer journey, and it worked with Stripe and Cabiri to make that happen.

Stripe helped River Island replace its old stack with a unified commerce solution using Stripe Payments, Stripe Elements, Adaptive Acceptance, Payment Element, and Stripe Terminal, with commercetools integrated for composable commerce. The result was a 3% increase in authorisation rates, a 2% lift from review to transaction step, and self-checkout kiosks that are about 30% faster than manned tills; Stripe now processes 100% of River Island’s online sales and all self-service checkouts in stores.
