Passenger, a public transport platform, needed a fast way to launch payments for operators without taking on the complexity of transaction management, payouts, refunds, or compliance. It also wanted a smoother checkout experience and support for subscriptions, recurring payments, and a broader range of payment methods as it expanded into Europe.

Passenger implemented Stripe Connect and Stripe Billing, and planned to add Stripe’s Optimised Checkout Suite with the Payment Element. Stripe handled onboarding, payment splitting, KYC, refunds, and compliance support such as SCA, while giving Passenger a simpler, more flexible checkout. The results included a 170% revenue increase, faster time to market, quicker operator onboarding, and stronger recurring revenue through subscription features and easier payment method expansion.
