A Stripe Case Study
OrderUp, a restaurant technology company launched during COVID-19, needed a way to help restaurants survive staffing shortages, rising costs, and pressure from third-party delivery apps. The company wanted to offer zero-fee online ordering while letting restaurants own customer relationships and build direct guest lists, and it used Stripe to power its payment experience.
Stripe helped OrderUp expand into in-person payments with Stripe Terminal, allowing restaurants to accept physical debit and credit cards without building the system from scratch. The result was faster market expansion at a fraction of the investment, plus secure PCI-compliant payment handling and support for growth across Canada and the US. OrderUp also said its on-premise tools helped staff cover three times as many tables per shift.
