Octopus Energy, a renewable energy provider expanding across global markets, needed to modernize payments as it moved beyond a single direct-debit model. As the company grew, it had to support more payment methods and local requirements while keeping the customer experience simple, and it turned to Stripe as part of its Kraken platform strategy.

Stripe helped Octopus Energy connect quickly and securely through its API, enabling the team to focus on building Kraken instead of spending engineering time on payments. Octopus Energy also created a Cashflow framework with pluggable integrations, and with Stripe supporting that approach, the company scaled Kraken to around 25 payment channels with minimal development effort and lower-friction bill payments for customers.
