Minelab unlocks a new customer base by enabling cross-border payments between Indonesia and Malaysia

Minelab, a global metal detector company, wanted to expand from its brick-and-mortar model into Southeast Asia, starting with Indonesia. The challenge was launching its first Asian e-commerce site in a market where customers preferred mobile wallets or cash on delivery, while also enabling secure cross-border payments and building awareness for a new online sales channel. Minelab worked with Stripe through Sweetmag, using Stripe Connector for Adobe Commerce.

Sweetmag integrated Stripe into Minelab’s Indonesian website so it could accept local payment methods plus credit and debit cards. With Stripe, the site went live in less than one month, nearly half of dealer payments now come via credit and debit cards, and Minelab’s Indonesian business has tripled since launch. Stripe also enabled Payment Links for other Southeast Asian markets, helping Minelab speed up ordering, reduce inventory needs for dealers, and support further regional expansion.
