Lyte expands in-person payments to UK, forecasting 2.5x growth by end of 2022

Lyte, a portable power provider with in-store kiosks, needed a way to expand from the US into the UK while preserving its smooth in-person checkout experience. Customers prefer not to download an app when their battery is low, so Lyte relied on Stripe Terminal and the Stripe mobile SDK, but international expansion introduced challenges like a PIN pad requirement, hardware logistics, and tight timelines.

Stripe helped Lyte adapt its existing Terminal SDK setup for the UK with only a simple update, while also supporting a new device form factor using the BBPOS WisePad 3. With Stripe’s documentation, code snippets, and hardware support, a single engineer completed the rollout in just a couple of days, turning a months-long process into days and positioning Lyte for more than 2x location growth and further expansion into France, Germany, and Spain.
