A Stripe Case Study
HeyCentric, a payments platform for councils, universities, and other public institutions, needed a modern way to replace legacy systems that were hard to use on mobile, offered limited payment options, and made reconciliation and reporting slow. The company chose Stripe to support its citizen payments offering and help it expand beyond the UK while improving the experience for “every citizen” who must pay public-sector bills.
Stripe implemented a streamlined payments stack for HeyCentric using Stripe Connect, APIs, webhooks, Radar, Billing, Terminal, and Link. This gave customers real-time transaction visibility, automated much of the reconciliation work, added fraud and decline insights, and enabled more payment methods, including recurring payments, Apple Pay, Google Pay, pay-by-bank, and in-person chip-and-PIN. With Stripe, HeyCentric went live with 22 customers in less than two years, processed over 1.7 million transactions and £1.6 billion in volume, and now supports more than 30 customers and 3.4 million transactions annually, with more than one-third of transactions flowing through Link.
