Case Study: Airwallet achieves faster global expansion and higher revenue with Stripe

A Stripe Case Study

Preview of the Airwallet Case Study

Danish startup Airwallet expands into 19 new territories with Stripe

Airwallet, a mobile payments company that modernized laundrettes in Denmark, wanted to expand overseas but was blocked by its local payments provider’s lack of support for international methods like Bancontact, iDEAL, and giropay. Airwallet needed a way to add local payment methods, handle compliance, and move quickly without taking up too much developer time, so it turned to Stripe.

Stripe provided the financial infrastructure Airwallet needed, including Stripe Connect, iDEAL, Bancontact, Stripe Billing, and Stripe Terminal. Implementation took just two weeks instead of the two to three months competitors predicted, and Airwallet was able to launch a contactless POS product, Anton, that drove a 30%–40% revenue increase almost overnight. With Stripe, Airwallet expanded into 19 new countries without writing new code, and laundrette owners using Stripe Billing saw revenues rise by 25%–30%.
