CarbonPay launches carbon-offsetting cards with Stripe—in just 20 weeks

CarbonPay, founded by Rory Spurway, wanted to combat greenwashing by making climate action simple, automatic, and transparent for businesses and consumers. To launch its climate-focused payments model, CarbonPay used Stripe to build a platform that could connect everyday purchases to real environmental impact.

Stripe provided CarbonPay with Stripe Issuing, Stripe Connect, Stripe Financial Accounts, and Stripe Climate, enabling virtual and physical cards, flexible spending limits, and a portion of transaction fees directed to carbon-removal initiatives. With Stripe, CarbonPay went from idea to launch in just 20 weeks, and its model now offsets 1 kg of carbon for every $1.50 spent while giving customers clear visibility into the carbon footprint of each purchase.
