Case Study: Macy’s achieves real-time inventory consistency and cost savings with Striim

A Striim Case Study

Preview of the Macy's Case Study

How Macy’s Streamlined Retail Operations

Macy’s faced fragmented and inconsistent inventory data across DB2 on the mainframe and Oracle systems, high mainframe maintenance and licensing costs, slow time-to-market for new applications, and mismatched online and in-store customer experiences. Striim’s real-time data integration platform was engaged to modernize the platform and create a single source of truth.

Striim replicated and synchronized data in real time from mainframe and Oracle databases to Google Cloud (Cloud Spanner, Pub/Sub, BigQuery), using a highly available, multi-VM architecture to minimize downtime and support peak-season scaling. As a result, Macy’s achieved consistent online and in-store inventory views, prevented out-of-stock and surplus situations during peak events, accelerated application development, and realized substantial maintenance and licensing cost savings thanks to reduced dependency on legacy systems.
