Communications Services Firm Turns Growth Challenges into Opportunities

ComNet Communications, a turnkey voice, data and video infrastructure provider, was overwhelmed by paper-based time tracking as its field staff grew (from ~75 to 175). Supervisors and technicians faxed weekly timesheets into multiple offices for manual entry into Sage Timberline, causing missed deadlines, illegible cards and no reliable way to verify hours. To address this, ComNet selected StreetSmart’s mobile enterprise solution (mobile app plus web management) to modernize time collection and field visibility.

StreetSmart was deployed with a custom payroll portal integrated into ComNet’s Sage Timberline system, enabling field workers to clock in/out from phones and managers to review hours and locations in real time. StreetSmart’s GPS mapping and alerts (for overtime, speeding and asset location) cut paperwork, reduced overtime disputes, improved safety (fewer speeding incidents), sped invoicing and receivables, and gave managers actionable, real-time data to monitor job profitability—benefits ComNet says delivered clear ROI.
