BBC powers 50,000+ local news stories with StreamAMG Newsdesk

The BBC faced the challenge of fostering independent local reporting through its ambitious Local News Partnerships (LNP) initiative, which required sharing a massive volume of content among nearly 900 regional news organizations. To achieve this, they turned to vendor StreamAMG and its Newsdesk platform to create a collaborative journalism solution.

StreamAMG implemented its Newsdesk platform to power both the LNP's News Hub and Local Democracy Reporting Service. This solution enabled the seamless download of BBC content and the upload of partner content with minimal training. The result was a highly successful collaborative network; in its first year, the LNP produced over 50,000 stories, with reporters filing approximately 6,000 stories each month, significantly extending the reach of local journalism.
